I look at you, and then I look at me.

Is there a difference, because I can't see.

And though you don't look the same,

you're still playing the game.

I can see a monster deep behind your eyes,

I can't tell but I think it's also behind mine.

I'm fighting, struggling with the truth.

Because when I look at me, all I see is you.

I can't be like you are,

but I can see we share the dark.

I hate to see you like a monster,

but it's all that you are.

I can see a monster deep behind your eyes,

I can't tell but I think it's also behind mine.

I'm fighting, struggling with the truth.

Because when I look at me, all I see is you.

Fishing trips and backseat laughing,

can't keep me quiet from all of the fighting.

You've gaslighted me all that you can,

you tell me I'm a monster but I know what I am.

I look at you and then I look at me,

Is there a difference? I just can't see.

All I know is that what you are, is what I'll be.
